Civil Disobedience Planned Outside NYC Recruiting Stations on Saturday

by

The War Resisters League in New York have
announced plans
to stage acts of civil disobedience outside military recruiting stations in Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx on Saturday, March 19 to mark the second anniversary of the Iraq invasion.

According to the War Resisters League: “We will gather at three locations around the city for short rallies, and then solemnly process — carrying coffins, signs and banners — to the recruiting centers… Once there, some will commit civil disobedience, blocking the doors of centers to protect young people from the lies and threats to life emanating from the centers. Others risking arrest will die-in, graphically showing the realities of war hidden behind the slogans like "Army of One" or "Marines, The Few, The Proud." Those not risking arrest will leaflet, hold banners, and engage passersby in dialogue.” [More Info || Download PDF Flyer]

  1. IRR Soldier... Says:

You do know that the Fordham Rd. Recruiting Booth at Fordham Rd. and the Grand Concourse is NOT the main Fordham Road Recruiting station. It is only a one-man office. The real Fordham Rd. station with 6-7 Recruiters is down the block (going east) on the 2nd Floor. Failing to stand in front of there will make your efforts an exercise in futility as that is where 90% of enlistment appointments and contracts take place – not at the booth

I think military service ought to be mandatory. Especially for Communist pukes like this organization.
