These bad Non-Commissioned Officers do not represent the thousands of professional and respectful SGTs in the Army. That is like say that the executives at Enron are typical of all executives in big corporations.

In my own personal experience as a recruit at Fort Benning, the abuses reported in this article are exactly what I encountered. To suggest the thuggery which goes on is occasional and the product of a few warped minds is simply a lie. The system revels in sadisitic violence and uses it as part of the overall system of brain-washing and psychological degradation by which to make soldiers more pliable to acts they normally would not carry out as civilians.

Ray, I’m guessing that you drop out of Basic Training because you sound like a mommy’s boy. I was Drill Sgt for 3 yrs I have never abused or brain washed any recruit.

I was in Echo company 1-81 when this happen. These were my drill sgt’s. Time was from Oct. 2004- Apr. 2005. They did step across the line a few times but I dont believe they deserved what they got. They needed to be instructed what the proper way of training a private is but not kicked out. I can honestly say I appreciated the way I was trained, it helped me get through 2 tours to Iraq. At the end of the day, you get out what you put in… If your joining combat arms, you know what your signing up for so man up, complete the training, and charlie mike.
